The Verein für Muslime in Heidelberg e.V. (VMH) is a non-profit association and tries to strengthen and support the Muslim community in Heidelberg with its modest contributions.

The purpose of this association is the promotion of the religion of Islam. Thus, it strives to provide authentic knowledge about classical Sunni Islam in German and Arabic in order to contribute to a peaceful and harmonious coexistence. Our doors are not only open to people of Arabic origin or Muslims, but to all interested fellow human beings.

Services

Mosque / Worship

All five daily prayers and the Friday prayer are performed. The sermon is held in Arabic and translated into German. It begins at 2:00 pm in the summer time and 1:00 pm in the winter time. Twice a year, the holy festivals of Islam are organized and celebrated in the mosque. These are Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha.

Seminars and Courses

Seminars and classes are held in the mosque in both German and Arabic. Furthermore, there are lectures especially for children or Islam classes for women, which take place every second Sunday from 13:00 – 16:00. There are also courses for memorizing the Qur’an (Tahfiz).

Arabic School

Dar-al-Arqam School offers classes in Islam, Qur’an and Arabic for children between the ages of 5 and 13 every Saturday from 10:00 am – 1:30 pm. In addition, there are two preschool classes and the grades 1 – 6.

Marriage
in the mosque

The mosque assists couples in the marriage process. This includes all necessary forms and procedures to start a valid Islamic-recognized marriage.

Children's playgroup
“Rainbow”

Our children’s playgroup is a place of joy and fun for our youngest ones. It serves twice a week as a playgroup for children where religion is taught through play.

Fast breaking
in Ramadan

During the holy month of Ramadan, the mosque offers a daily, communal fast-breaking meal, free of charge and open to everyone.

“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Aware.”
(Al-Hujurat, 49:13).

Donations

We kindly ask you to continue to donate for the mosque so that the maintenance costs can be covered. The mosque does not receive any financial support from public funds. Regular donations of visitors are the only source of income to cover the monthly expenses of the mosque. The Verein für Muslime in Heidelberg e.V. is a non-profit organization and therefore donors are entitled to a tax deduction for their donations by means of a donation receipt. This can be issued retroactively for the previous year upon request.
